Visiting
White Water Walk Attraction in Niagara Falls
The
scene of these class-6 rapids will definitely take your breath
away. By being
close to these
white water rapids, you will see how wild they are.
Trillions of gallons of water are going through this deep and beautiful
Great Gorge, river, whirlpool and further. The roar of the water is
just incredible. I was amazed by the volume of water thundering down
the gorge and the
steepness and deepness of the gorge itself.
An enclosed elevator will take you 70 m down to the Niagara river
level, where you will walk through the tunnel, another 73 m, to the
boardwalk along the river’s edge.
On
your way down you will be able to feel the nature’s raw energy
pulsating through you.
The smell of the water, mist in the air, foam
appearance is one great experience. It was so thrilling to be allowed
to get so close to the white water rapids and feel the power of the
rushing
water.
Be careful, you may be walking along the shore and suddenly feel a
huge splash of cold water.
You will take a nice walking tour, 15 minutes from one end
of the boardwalk to the other, and probably spend at least
half hour more, marvel at the relentless power of the rapids and beauty
of
the nature.
Photo gallery is
also available of all the stunters and daredevils who tried to conquer

White water facts
and reviews
So why these rapids are famous and white water walk so attractive?
Well, at some spots, the speed has been recorder
at incredible 109
km/h, near the brink of the Falls. The waves are huge. Imagine that.
The stunters
and daredevils must be lucky. On other spots, where the Niagara River
is slow, max. speed of the water rapids is about 40 km/h.
Water is traveling at about 48 km/h at the spot where this
attraction is, while creating Whirlpool Rapids. The rapids are scale 6
on a scale 1-6.
Just for you to have an idea, class 1 rapids are when there are small
waves and little or no current. The class 6 is defined as a rapid
extremely difficult to successfully maneuver, because of the very steep
vertical drops and boulders. It is considered as unrunnable.
At the Whirlpool Rapids 3-5 m standing waves are created in 4 km
length, unique in North America.
Very special view is where the Niagara River turns 90-degree,
upriver are Whirlpool Rapids with class 6
rapids and downriver is Class
5 Devil’s Hole Rapids.
