Trip
to Niagara Falls New York
by Samantha Marshall (Kansas, US)
On our trip to Niagara Falls we
stayed on the New York side. The first day my family and I went on one
of the Maid of the Mist boat ride.
Well all thought it was funny how we
had to wear ponchos that and that none of the ponchos really fit my
sister the one they found for her still quite big. We thought that it
was very interesting that this was one of the oldest tours in the
United States that it has been around since 1846.
The next day we ended
up going on a van tour of Niagara Falls which took us to all the major
sites. We were able to go up into the Observation Tower which is pretty
exciting because it the observation deck allows you to see both the
falls and the Horseshoe Fall all at once.
Next they took us to Prospect
Point, Terrapin Point, and Three Sisters Islands. On Three Sisters
Islands we were able to hike around a bit. As far as trying to go over
the Falls in a barrel there have actually been people who have survived
such as Annie Taylor back in 1901 and were the first person ever to
attempt it. The funniest part of our van trip we went over to the
Canadian Side and we were all let through not a problem.
We were able
to see the American Side of the falls and go up into the Skylon Tower
and it was very interesting to see the falls from the other side also
Toronto was very beautiful as we drove around. The interesting part was
that when coming back into the US our van had a little problem when we
forgot to bring identification for my 10 year old sister. Thankfully we
had her name on a insurance card….we joke with her now that she almost
had to stay and become a Canadian by herself.
