About Pillitteri Estates Winery
The success of the winery started when the Pillitteri founder won a gold medal for his Icewine in Niagara's amateur wine competition. Icewine became their main product and today for its popular Icewine production Pillitteri Estates Winery is using the Vidal, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer varieties.
Pillitteri wines are made of grapes harvested mainly from the 100 acres of Pillitteri vineyards. Every bottle has the familiar Pillitteri logo, a Sicilian cart, called a carretto where the family is originally from. To meet strict VQA standards, vineyards are planted with vitis vinifera and French Hybrid grape varieties.
Wine production was steadily increasing over the years from its early days of winemaking and it currently stands at 600,000 liters, with the variety of styles of red, white and Ice wines.
Due to increasing wine demand and expansion of vineyards, the winery's production facilities have recently undergone a major expansion.
One of the most interesting features of Pillitteri winery is definitely its barrel cellar. This wine cellar is full of oak barrels used for storing and aging of wines and together with the constant cellar temperature of 54 F or 12 C and controlled humidity are the important factors in character development of the wines and enhancing flavors and aromas.
Other impressive sights in the wine cellar are the huge concrete table, 500 inches in length and twenty-three stainless steel chairs hanging on the walls above. The chairs offer the stunning display but symbolically tell the story of the family.

Estates Winery is open seven days a week, winter or summer,
and walk-in visits to the wine store and tasting bar are
welcomed.Tasting bar offers an extensive selection of high quality wines, and you can sample and buy any wine that suits your palate.
If you came for one of many Niagara winery tours available around, Pillitteri offers two free public tours daily, from noon until 2pm. It includes a detailed tour through the facility and wine tasting. This is the walk-in tour and there is no need to make a reservation.
If you prefer a private winery tour, at your convenience and customized for your needs, it can be arranged.
Private tours are guided tours that are interactive and offer a great opportunity to learn about Pillitteri winery, its state-of-the-art underground barrel cellar, winemaking, wine tasting... actually the whole process from the vineyard to the wine production.
During the winery tour, you will enjoy the scenery of the picturesque vineyards and orchard on the trolley, tutored wine tasting and private customized food and wine pairings in the Hospitality Room overlooking the winery.
Distinctive at Pillitteri is fresh bread from the bakery, outdoor garden patio, retail boutique, country market and fruit-packing plant. Seasonal weekend barbecues are among special events held at the estates.
