Visiting Niagara Falls Aquarium

niagara falls aquariumAquarium of Niagara Falls, NY features over 2000 species, including small fish, piranhas, sea lions, dolphins, sharks, Peruvian penguins and other sea animals.

You will have an opportunity to see and enjoy just a tiny part of aquatic life that lived in different ecosystems, from Pacific Ocean, Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean.

Buying Niagara USA Discovery Pass provides you an admission to the aquarium and to the other attractions including Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, trolley ride, Niagara Adventure theater and Discovery Center. Seeing and admiring American Falls is for free of course.

If you are situated in one of the hotels or motels in Niagara Falls, Canada, and planning to spend the majority of your time there, then you can skip this attraction since Marineland is more convenient.

Aquarium of Niagara Falls is quite small. You will need not more than 1-2 hours to see all the animals and shows. Since the aquarium is so small, your kids will be occupied with the activities and many small shows and attractions around.

If the weather in Niagara Falls is not OK for your outdoor activities or to visit different attractions, the aquarium is a perfect spot for you and your family and time to spend together.

What is great about this aquarium is the fact that most of the animals are rescued. Right after you enter the aquarium, you will find few harbor seals, with each biography that provides and reveals some upsetting injuries they suffered from.

What a shame.

Every 90 minutes there are marine demonstrations where you can watch sea lions' performance. You can also interact with these great animals, feeding them.

Niagara Falls aquarium allows you to interact with some of the animals. Here is the schedule of the performances available.

  • Peruvian Penguin Feedings (10:00am and 3:00pm).
  • Sea Lion Shows (11:00, 1:00, 3:30, 6:00) - you will be entertained by California sea lions, doing performance in a central pool.
  • Seal Presentations (10:30am and 4:30pm).
  • Shark Feedings (11:30am).
  • Tidal Pool Feedings (11:30am).
You can also feed a Seal from the public area of the outdoor pool, for $5 (Saturday & Sunday only 12 pm & 2 pm).
