History
of Grimsby Town, Ontario Town
of Grimsby in Ontario was founded in 1790, originally named Township
Number 6 and then The Forty. The town was named after Grimsby
in
England.
The first settlers in Grimsby area were Americans,
emigrating from US, and rewarded with lands from the Britains, for
their loyalty to the Crown of England. In the beginning this place
was the agrarian village and later in the mid-1800s an
industrial centre.
Today,
the town is
known as
the place in Niagara Peninsula with thriving agricultural industry
with fruit growing, processing and
shipping center. History of the town from its United Empire Loyalist
roots, to the present day can be checked at the Grimsby Museum.

Beamer
Memorial Conservation Area with its 93 metre drop, offers one of the
most breathtaking sceneries of the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario.
