Driving Directions to Niagara Falls - Tips when crossing the border

If driving from US, the odds are that you will use one of the four available bridges in the close proximity of Niagara city:

  • The Lewiston-Queenston Bridge is located 15 mins north of the Niagara Falls. On US side, this is where the international expressway 190 ends and on Canadian side, Hwy 405. Once you cross the border and head south, along Niagara Parkway, you will see Niagara waterfalls. No pedestrians are allowed on the bridge.
  • The Peace Bridge is located in the south of Niagara Peninsula and connects Fort Erie on the Canadian side and Buffalo metropolitan area in New York state. Take the Niagara Parkway north and in half hour you will enter the city of Niagara.
  • The Rainbow Bridge is the closest to the waterfalls, and once you cross the bridge, you will be right in the Niagara downtown and the main tourist area, Clifton Hill. The bridge is the most direct route to Casino Niagara also. Interstate 190 in US has the access to the Rainbow Bridge and QEW, exit 420 from Canada.
  • The Whirlpool Bridge is located on a short drive north of the waterfalls and is reserved for subscribers to NEXUS, pre-approved cars.
