Driving
Directions to Niagara Falls - Tips when crossing the border
If driving from US, the odds are that you will use one of the four
available bridges in the close proximity of Niagara city:
- The
Lewiston-Queenston Bridge is located 15 mins north of the Niagara
Falls. On US side, this is where the international expressway 190 ends
and on Canadian side, Hwy 405. Once you cross
the border and head south, along Niagara Parkway, you will
see Niagara waterfalls. No pedestrians are allowed on the
bridge.
- The Peace Bridge is located in the
south of Niagara Peninsula and connects Fort Erie on the Canadian side
and Buffalo metropolitan area in New York state. Take the Niagara
Parkway north and in half hour you will enter the city of Niagara.
- The
Rainbow Bridge is the closest to the waterfalls, and once you cross the
bridge, you will be right in the Niagara downtown and the main tourist
area, Clifton Hill. The bridge is the most direct route to Casino
Niagara also. Interstate 190 in US has the access to the Rainbow Bridge
and QEW, exit 420 from Canada.
- The Whirlpool Bridge is located on a short drive
north of the waterfalls and is reserved for subscribers to
NEXUS, pre-approved cars.
Driving
direction to Niagara Falls from Toronto
If
coming from the north of Toronto, take the HWY 401 to the Highway 403 south
which will lead you to the Queen Elizabeth Way or QEW and further toward
Niagara Falls.
If coming from south of Toronto, take the Gardiner Expy
to QEW and toward Niagara Falls.
From Toronto Pearson Airport, take the King's Hwy 427 south to QEW,
exit toward Hamilton.
After
roughly 120 km and 1h and 30 mins from downtown Toronto, or 45 mins from Burlington, take the exit
from QEW toward Dorchester Rd and turn left at King's
Hwy 420. Exit on Falls Ave and meet Clifton Hill. Proceed to
the
Niagara Parkway where Horseshoe Falls is waiting for you.
Driving
direction to Niagara Falls from Ottawa
From Ottawa take King's Hwy 417, southwest to Highway 416. Follow
Highway 416 and merge onto Veteran's Memorial Hwy and to Highway
401/MacDonald-Cartier Fwy, west. Drive along 401 to Highway 427 south,
which will connect to the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW).
From QEW take the exit toward Dorchester Rd and turn left at King's Hwy
420 to the city downtown.
Driving
direction to Niagara Falls from Montreal, Quebec
From
Montreal take King's Hwy 401 west, toward Toronto. Take exit 352 for
ON-427 and merge onto King's Hwy 427 Expy. From there take the QEW,
Queen Elizabeth Way, exit toward Hamilton. From QEW take the exit
toward Dorchester Rd and turn left at King's Hwy 420 to the city
downtown.

direction to Niagara Falls from Windsor
From
Windsor, take the Highway 401 to Toronto. Exit Hwy 401, at the exit for
Hwy 403. Turn there and follow Hwy 403 to Burlington. Merge
onto QEW toward Niagara Falls. From QEW take the exit
toward Dorchester Rd and turn left at King's Hwy 420 to the city
downtown.
Driving
direction to Niagara Falls from Detroit
Detroit is located across the Canadian city Windsor. You can
cross the US/Canada border either over the Ambassador Bridge or through
the Tunnel in downtown of Detroit. Once in Windsor follow the directions to Niagara
Falls from Windsor.
Driving
direction to Niagara Falls from Chicago
When going to Niagara Falls from Chicago by car, the shortest way is
through Sarnia. It will take you, per Google Maps, 8 hours and 26 mins.
Take the I-94 E from Chicago. At the exit 108 merge onto I-69 N.
Take the exit toward I-69 E/I-94 and merge onto I-69 E/I-94 E, cross the Blue Water Bridge (toll road) and
enter Canada. Take King's Hwy 402 to Hwy 401 ramp to London.
Exit 401 when you see the sign for Hwy 403, follow the Hwy to QEW
at Burlington and further toward Niagara Falls. From QEW take the exit
toward Dorchester Rd and turn left at King's Hwy 420 to the Niagara
downtown.
Driving directions to Niagara Falls from New York
Drive from I-280 W and merge onto I-80 W. Take I-380 N toward
Scranton, merge onto I-81 N. Take exit 25A and merge onto I-90 W toward
Buffalo. To merge onto I-290 W toward Niagara Falls take the exit 50.
Take the exit onto I-90 N and drive straight to the Lewiston-Queenston
Bridge and US-Canada border.
For
